5/2/2024 0 Comments The world's useless websiteIf you’re a huge history person, this website might be right up your alley. I chuckled a bit at this one because there is still that weirdly competitive nature in me that wants to keep pressing the button even though I know it’s dumb. But I still feel like there are some even dumber ones later on in this list of weird websites. I don’t know about the world’s dumbest, although it is dumber than the check box game I just showed you. I’d probably play it for longer than I should. I wish they had a high score for this game or even some other time to beat. This is another weird website with a stupid simple but strangely addicting game. I will admit, I was shocked when it got me the first time and it took me 3 times to actually figure out how was it done! 9. This website has a simple, quick card trick that will leave you mind-boggled the first time around. It’s basically the equivalent of getting password advice from an in-law who isn’t too fond of you. This website takes a password that you input and then gives it feedback, with a twist. It’s software to help you generate stronger passwords while also throwing passive-aggressive insults at you throughout the way. This one is actually pretty funny while also being super useful. It’s super simple to use and you can create some seriously awesome stuff with it, even if you don’t have any musical experience.Īll you have to do is pick two songs and the website does the rest, creating a mashup of the two songs that actually sounds pretty darn good most of the time. Rave.dj is a website that allows you to create your own mashups and remixes… FOR FREE. It has tons of made-up definitions and jokes of diseases, nicknames, insults, and ALL KINDS of stuff. This weird website is, like the name suggests, inherently funny. My favorite link is the FAQ section which makes me laugh out loud a little every time. It’s weird, it’s funny, and it’s oddly relatable. It’s well done and quite comical when you think of how it sheds light on the current dating culture. The website is a fake dating site that allows you to buy dates. This website is a play on amazon and is eerily close to their layout and experience. Think classic Pictionary but with an AI instead of a human. It then uses AI and machine learning to try and guess what you have drawn. This website gives you 20 seconds to draw an image based on a prompt. This website is kind of fun, especially if you have an iPad or tablet with a pencil and like to draw. It’s dumb but strangely satisfying when you finally find the cow. Your only clue is someone shouting “Cow!” that gets louder when you’re getting close to the animal. When I first found this one, I thought it was really stupid. The neverending quilt is actually really beautiful, so if you appreciate art, take a look at this weird site. They actually have multiple options on the left and you can use your arrow keys to go backward or forwards as fast as you want. I thought it was going to end at first, but then it just doesn’t. It’s strangely mesmerizing and I found myself unable to look away. I put this one first on the list because I honestly thought it was so cool. There are a whopping 49 weird websites on this list, and we have broken them down into different categories for you based loosely on their intended purpose (because sometimes all one can do is guess). The interesting thing is… Only ONE of these weird websites is actually monetized! (at least as far as we can tell from first glance). Well, these people are clearly coloring outside of the lines… They’ve created content for a very different purpose, and we’re here for it. We tell you to choose a good niche and a good name and create a really useful website. Some people have too much time on their hands, I suppose.īut here’s the thing… we all like to think inside the box. While I’m sure some of them are even surprisingly useful, they take it to a level that makes you question why they even exist in the first place. Did you know that there are some REALLY weird websites out there? Perhaps you might already know that, but some websites take weird to a whole new level.

This animal will become non member in 2018 in the winter fall. Sit: Sits like an arctic wolf- only its tail is around its body. Hop: Hops up and when comes down its tail puffs up and goes over again. Sleep: Sleeps on back and holds tail like a stuffed animal.

At each angle, also called corners, the surveyor will reference a monument. There are regional units of measurement you could stumble on from time to time, though. You’ll also be told the distance of each course, usually measured in a well known unit such as feet or chains. This will either be with respect to a meridian or magnetic north. In a legal survey description, the land boundaries are run out by courses (the direction of the line). The system can be particularly helpful for writing the legal descriptions of irregularly shaped land, something more complicated than a rectangle. That’s what a metes and bounds plotter system determines: the perimeter of a property. They can be identified by natural features such as rivers or by man made marcations such as stakes. Metes and bounds are the boundaries or limits for a parcel of land. Oftentimes, the land in question would be new territory, and the legal descriptions would provide useful information such as predicted land uses, natural features and the people surrounding a property. These descriptions were written to be best interpreted by a community, and so they offer customized, rich characterizations. It also led to new land laws and the eventual establishment of recording institutions in our country.Īnother advantage of metes and bounds survey descriptions is the information about the land. Metes and bounds gave people a way to designate, own, buy and sell property. Whenever America was still being settled by immigrants to the continent, there was no standard for measuring and recording land plots. The metes and bounds system allowed for more customized property practices that utilized localized knowledge and facilitated community development. The challenge now is figuring out how to translate the information from then to the parcel mapping needs of now. There are more modern, standardized systems for land boundaries today, but the metes and bounds plotter system continues to hang on in the form of old land surveys, deeds and other documents. What was a dependable reference point in one era may not be helpful to someone today. The problem, of course, is that trees can die, streams can dry up, roads can be moved and man made structures can fall down. They used points such as trees, boulders, streams, roads, buildings and anything else that may have been near them as a reference for property boundaries. This system, which utilizes the completely subjective interpretation of natural features and markers by a land surveyor, is by no means new, but it’s also not going away anytime soon, either.īack in the day, when surveyors lacked sophisticated measuring systems and mapping tools, metes and bounds was a reliable option. In the United States, the fingerprints for this method of surveying property can be most easily found in the states that were once the 13 original colonies. While standardization is critical for enabling property to be understood by a larger and more distant set of buyers and creditors, customized property practices built upon localized knowledge serve other important social functions that likewise encourage development. The metes and bounds system is nearly as old as land ownership itself, with evidence of it existing from as far back as Ptolemaic Egypt and the Roman Republic. The rich descriptions of the metes and bounds of colonial properties were customized to the preferences of American settlers and could be tailored to different types of property interests, permitting simple compliance with recording laws. Importantly, the benefits of metes and bounds were greater, and the associated costs lower, than an a historical examination of these records would indicate. Using new archival research from the American colonial period, this Article reconstructs the forgotten history of metes and bounds within recording practice. However, historians have not yet explored the social and legal context surrounding earlier metes and bounds systems-obscuring the important role that nonstandardized property can play in stimulating growth. Metes and bounds systems have long been the subject of ridicule among scholars, and a recent wave of law-and-economics scholarship has argued that land boundaries must be easily standardized to facilitate market transactions and yield economic development. Abstract: Since long before the settling of the American colonies, property boundaries were described by the “metes and bounds” method, a system of demarcation dependent on localized knowledge of movable stones, impermanent trees, and transient neighbors. 5/1/2024 0 Comments Toontown offline toon task idsWhat I can tell you, however, is that we know it can be boring in these months while we work on the updates, and just like last year, we have some things planned to keep you entertained. What's that mean for the time-being? I can't tell you what they're working on they'd have my head if I did. That way, in the months with our highest player counts (When school gets out for the summer!) we have plenty of things ready to release for all of you Toons. We can't just pull all of those updates out of thin air, you know - we set aside this time of year to re-evaluate progress and figure out what's "Toon Enough" to come out over the course of the next year. It happens every year around this time, just as you can see with the whole Blockade I set up last year. I should clarify that the Toon Council hasn't given me any assignments because they've been too busy creating them, as usual. I mean, I know I do most of the talking here, but at least you're good listeners. Let me tell you, it's pretty lonely without you folks. Zilch! This time last year I actually went on strike, (which is continuing - no new website yet!) but this year they're just doing it for me. Speaking of government work, that's actually the topic I've got to talk to you about today: The Toon Council? They've given me absolutely nothing to talk about. Nonetheless, it's close enough for government work. I mean, it probably was, right? I didn't really check. WE DID IT TOONTOWN! The absolute longest amount of time between two blog posts. |
